The River

The ladies on the bow, taking pictures of the giant barge. Miss Maybelle, HoneyLuna, Ms. Tay-Tay.

Birthday boy and Ms. Leila (did I spell that right?). Also, Mr. Moon.

Tarzan or dinosaurs could come roaring out of this jungle and I would not be surprised.

Mr. Moon, picking a sweet bay magnolia blossom. You have no idea how tricky this maneuver was.

The blossom. It is like the grandiflora in scent and color, but the size is one fifth, if that. The river was lined with them and I have never noticed them before. How can this be?

Mr. Honey. Captain Papa. Picker of magnolias, keeper of my heart.

It was a glorious day.

  2. Hi Ms Moon. I stumbled upon your blog at infantasia, who is a new friend of mine too!

What beautiful day on the river with such beautiful ladies. The magnolia is wonderful and I wanted to smell it too!

I've only experienced a bit of north Florida since my parents moved to Jax, but only when I get a chance to visit them. Which isn't as often as I liked since I moved to Ireland 10 years ago. Still, there is so much to see and do. Being a Northerner at heart, I think I could see myself moving back to the States and try being a Southerner next time 'round.

  3. How nice! I have a fear of boats due to an airboat accident years ago. My fear is not so much of the water or boats separately, just together and going very fast. But this looks much more floaty. I think I could take this.

At first, I thought you were calling Mr. Moon, Tarzan. I thought the next photo would be of him swinging through the trees. But, no. He was just picking flowers.

  5. It really was such a fun day trip. I'm glad that we could do it. Sorry I was so tired, but I did enjoy my nap in the boat.

  6. Oh, I love riding on the boat down the river. I used to do it so much when I was younger, too.

    Glad you had fun!

  7. SJ- It was really, really wonderful.

    Learner- I know.

Ms. Aden- I love the south. I purely do. Maybe you would too!

Ms. Trouble- I have never had an airboat accident. Because I hate them and would not get on one. So I'm cool with the river. I think you would have loved this trip. And Mr. Moon is sort of like Tarzan.

Ms. Windy- I bet they would. We saw so many kids and babies in boats yesterday and they all seemed very happy. So did the dogs.

    Ginger- Really, it was perfect.

    Lora- Mine, too.

Honey- I don't think I've ever seen you that tired. I hope you got some rest, baby girl.

Lady Lemon- We just needed Hank to remind us of how lovely it is.

  8. I live in the southish western united states and have always wanted to visit Georgia, Louisiana and Florida. I have never seen a magnolia(tree, bush?) but I think they are BEEEAUTIFUL and was wondering if they smell as beautiful as they look.

  9. Palagigirl- They do smell as heavenly as they look. One of the most fragrant flowers to be found. Slightly lemony. I have never discovered it to be replicated successfully in any perfumes or scents.
